San Antonio

While there she earned her rifle Sharp Shooter Marksmanship ribbon. It would have been an Expert Marksmanship ribbon but she placed five rounds in the target next to hers. This helped that person earn an Expert Marksmanship ribbon so they were very well placed rounds! Even with five rounds short on her target she still scored high enough to earn the Sharp Shooter ribbon. That’s great shooting!

She went on to overcome 5 mile runs, obstacle courses, pepper spray as well as scoring very high on several academic tests. The pepper spray was quite an experience. She was the second recruit to be sprayed and had to overcome an obstacle course and take down a person before she could dunk her head in a bucket of water. She told us that she was afraid she was going to cry but when she got sprayed it just made her mad. Witnesses reported that she went through the obstacle course “like it was nothing” and then knocked the wind out of the guy she had to take down to get to the bucket of water. When she dunked her head in the water she says she started “balling.”

Her next stop will be her first duty station … the wonderful tropical Southern Pacific Island of Guam! Here she will have plenty to do including work, sun on the white sand beaches, eat, work, scuba dive, eat, work, snorkel, eat, work, explore the jungle, eat some more, work, and yes even shop! The food sounds awesome (Spanish Polynesian), the beaches have clean white sand and the water is crystal clear and a warm 85 degrees!

While she was in San Antonio we got a chance to go visit her. We did some shopping, walked the river walk, ate out, some more shopping and squeezed in a visit to a wildlife park.
